Do as I (R.S) says, not as they do

Former I.R.S official Lois Lerner allegedly lost numerous emails when her hard drive crashed. Upon further investigation it was found that IRS officials typically kept their emails and other documentation for periods of time as short as three months.

Most Americans find this unbelievable as according to the IRS, taxpayers are instructed to “Keep all employment tax records for at least 4 years after the date that the tax becomes due or is paid, whichever is later.” The IRS requiring us to keep records for years while they keep them for only months is like someone trying to model behavior by saying, “do what I say, not what I do,” a disincentivizing practice by whomever admits to it.
