Working with Benay for many years has allowed my company to keep its overhead lean and flexible, and has allowed Steerforth’s staff to focus on the words of our authors while Benay tends to the numbers. The people at Benay are consistently courteous, responsive, professional and thoroughly pleasant to work with.

Do as I (R.S) says, not as they do

July 2, 2014

Former I.R.S official Lois Lerner allegedly lost numerous emails when her hard drive crashed. Upon further investigation it was found that IRS officials typically kept their emails and other documentation for periods of time as short as three months.

Most Americans find this unbelievable as according to the IRS, taxpayers are instructed to “Keep all employment tax records for at least 4 years after the date that the tax becomes due or is paid, whichever is later.” The IRS requiring us to keep records for years while they keep them for only months is like someone trying to model behavior by saying, “do what I say, not what I do,” a disincentivizing  practice by whomever admits to it.
